Established in 2002, DC Energy has quickly grown into a market leader. Privately funded, and with a conservatively financed and balanced investment approach, we trade based on an in-depth, quantitative assessment of the fundamental economics for each segment of the energy market. We invest in products critical to the efficient development of energy infrastructure with a proprietary fund unconstrained by redemption risks.  Because of our long-term perspective, we are committed to furthering the efficiency of the markets in which we participate.
 
DC Energy began with a focus on transport and deliverability products surrounding power and gas markets, and has continued to expand from this core to other facets of the energy markets.  Today, we have amassed one of the financial industry’s largest and most diversified portfolios in the domestic markets we target, representing over 600 terawatt-hours of electricity and 150 billion cubic feet of natural gas.  By accumulating a balanced range and diversity of exposure, we reduce our risks and are thus able to provide more competitive and aggressively priced products to our trading partners.  Over the past year, we traded across more than 8,000 geographic points, with aggregate trading volume of over 800 terawatt-hours of electricity (equivalent to the output of almost 100 nuclear plants in a year) and 300 billion cubic feet of natural gas, deployed over 6 million total trades.  With our rigorous holistic approach, we are able to provide liquidity and hedging products targeted to any specifications our trading partners require.
 
DC Energy is not an investment bank, hedge fund, or a utility.  We bring a unique perspective to the energy market, with an unbiased, comprehensive, systematic, and quantitative analysis of the fundamentals.   Our trading teams examine the underlying physical and economic realities to determine rational pricing, and the surrounding risk distributions.  Our exhaustive inventory of historical data and the extensive analysis we perform allows us to take increasingly granular assessments, allowing us to tailor risk management products to meet the unique needs of our trading partners.
